Gnucash aqua

Powerbook G4 running 10.5.6

Because my attempt to upgrade Gnucash mangled things, I wiped out  
Macports by doing

according to the directions at http://guide.macports.org/#installing.macports.uninstalling 
.

I then reinstalled MacPorts 1.7 and followed the directions at http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/MacOSX/MacPortsDetail 
   ( in particular:

) for installing Gnucash as Aqua only (without hbci, ofx, or quotes).   
There was one hick-up in the installation which maybe means the  
uninstall directions need correction.

Gnucash finished installing and left me the following message.

Sure enough, Gnucash spit out the error above so I edited the .profile  
in my home directory and added the line directed.

Opening a new terminal window now causes the following error message.
> Failed to start message bus: Check-in failed: Permission denied

> EOF in dbus-launch reading address from bus daemon

What do I do now?
