MacPorts should set this up for you, unless you are using MacPorts  
1.6.0 which had a bug. Versions earlier and later than 1.6.0 do not  
have the bug, and you should be using 1.7.1 at this point.

The setup code only sets up bash and tcsh shells; if you use a  
different shell you'll have to set it up by hand.
