X11 flicker (using imagemagick::animate)

Right, that's per MacPorts policy to use internal libs rather than system ones where practical.

The MacPorts libs are actually newer than the ones in XQuartz 2.4.0.

My guess is that animate uses normal Xlib calls to render its images.  Is there an option to use the RENDER extension instead?
