Error installing gcc41 on 10.6?

(Tried to send a more complete message but was rejected --- twice.)

Has anyone else encountered problems attempting to install gcc41 on Snow Leopard?  In part I'm getting the following message from port:

Error: Target org.macports.build returned: shell command " cd "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_lang_gcc41/work/build" && /usr/bin/make -j2 profiledbootstrap " returned error 2
