Weird, you certainly don't appear to have done anything wrong. All of
gtk2's dependencies build correctly with universal_archs="i386 x86_64"
for me; I'm on 10.6 but I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work on
10.5 as well.

The other puzzling thing is how some of your libs managed to be built
for both archs when some of their dependencies are i386 only. In any
case, perhaps the build output for one of the incorrect ports will shed
more light.
