-universal

I've installed tetex, which brought in a bunch of X stuff.  Then I
started to install mono.  It reinstalled several ports with
+universal.  Is there a reason for it?  Nevermind that mono itself
then failed to build...  Ain't need no universal stuff; unless it
means both 32 and 64 bit in addition to PPC+Intel, in which case ain't
need no abovementioned PPC!  Is it safe to add -universal to
variants.conf?
