latex packages and ports

Why don't you use the TeX-Live Manager (http://tug.org/texlive/tlmgr.html) to install missing packages after the basic installation? It is included in texlive 2009 and there is a graphical interface for the mac (http://code.google.com/p/mactlmgr/)
