mac port Uninstall -- Unable to uninstall/deactive

I receive an error when trying to install maven3, bzip2 and other packages
that were previously installed by mac ports

Warning: It appears you have MacPorts or Fink installed.
Software installed with MacPorts and Fink are known to cause problems.
If you experience issues try uninstalling these tools.
