Launchd is running according to Am. When I enter ps from command line I get
very little

ps -A gives me a lot. So I did ps -A | grep launchd:

$ ps -A | grep launchd
    1 ??         0:41.80 /sbin/launchd
   24 ??         0:00.20
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/Resources/usbmuxd
-launchd
   32 ??         0:04.19 /usr/sbin/mDNSResponder -launchd

Agent.app/Contents/MacOS/AirPort Base Station Agent -launchd -allowquit

Anyways launnchd seems to be running and GnuCash too, but only from the
command line.
