Proftpd error log

I read that in 2008 syslog logging did not work at
http://www.proftpd.org/docs/NEWS-1.3.2 :

- Bug 3104 - Syslog logging does not work on Mac OS X.

 . But I hope they have found a solution or work around by now. Anybody
around here who did? I'd hate to drop proftpd now that I got it running....
