tetex to texlive

Hi all,

I have a simple question.  To switch over from tetex to texlive, do I have
to uninstall tetex first?  Or is it done automatically.  I am planning on
"port -v install texlive +medium +doc".  Any other instructions?  Is there
documentation on this issue?  I looked around but could not find anything.
