texlive / beamer / pgfxxx problem

This used to work a few weeks ago.

Using pdflatex with the beamer package leads to "pgfcore.sty" not found.

Looking through the log I find that macros are found on this path:

/opt/local/share/texmf-texlive-dist/tex/latex/beamer/beamer.cls

but the only pgf macros are in this directory:

/opt/local/var/macports/software/texlive_texmf-minimal/2007_3/opt/local/share/texmf-dist/tex/latex/pgf

Were they mistakenly not copied or something?
