Gnumeric configuration save

Hello - Whever I start gnumeric, or try to change some settings, I get the
following message:

An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for
gnumeric. Some of your configuration settings may not work properly.

I am wondering if this is a problem with the port and what to do about it.
