mplayer-devel upgrade breaks

Thanks for the suggestions.
x264 seems to be installed as "port installed" includes: x264 @20100224_0 (active)
I have not specified +universal either in variants.conf or on the original mplayer-devel install command (mplayer-devel @29701_2+aa+darwin+dv+faac+macosx+mencoder_extras+osd+twolame+x264+xvid (active))
Also, the installed mplayer doesn't execute and complains about:
dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/ports/lib/libx264.70.dylib
  Referenced from: /opt/ports/bin/mplayer
  Reason: image not found
There is no libx264.70.dylib, but there is libx264.88.dylib.
I also did "port clean --all mplayer-devel" followed by "port upgrade -u mplayer-devel" and got the same error.
Can I somehow revert to a previous version of x264?
