py26-gtk errors: libpng, force upgrade/clean does not fix

Hi Phil,

This looks like a different issue.
In your case you might have remaining references to in some of your *.la files on your system.
From the log, the file seems affected.
$ port provides /opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/
/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/ is provided by: py26-gtk

$ egrep -e 'libpng12\.la' /opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/
returns something, you might need to (force) uninstall py26-gtk temporarily.

I'd also advise you to run the following command to see if other *.la files on your system have references to
$ find /opt/local/lib /opt/local/Library -name '*.la' -print0 \
| xargs -0 egrep --files-with-match 'libpng12\.la'
