Hi Folks,
this issue is being trac'd on https://trac.macports.org/ticket/30574 but there is no maintainer response.

the tail end of sudo port -v -d selfupdate shows this:

===> making install in src/port
< ../../doc/prefix.mtree /usr/sbin/mtree -U -d -e -p /opt/local > /dev/null
< ../../doc/base.mtree /usr/sbin/mtree -U -d -e -p /opt/local > /dev/null

I _think the problem is one of those install commands failing to install files in the correct places.
I have removed /usr/loca/ from the PATH before running this too.
bash-3.2# path
/Library/Java/Home/bin:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/opt/subversion/bin:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/Library/Perl/5.10.0:/System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0:/sw/bin:/sw/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/X11/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin

so .. can anyone suggest something i can do to diagnose the prob? or know the reason for the problem?
