I've never seen such a feature in MacPorts. (I also never used Porticus.)
I see the list of new and updated ports fly by when I "sudo port -v sync" (twice: once when the files are pulled down from the repository, and again when the portindex is regenerated). Not that this is at all the ideal presentation for that kind of information. It's a useful idea, just not one that's been proposed here before. :)
