If 10.5 is the target don't build x86_64, especially not on 10.6 or 10.7.
At least outside of MacPorts the 64bit build will not be useable on 10.5 and worse, 10.5 will try the 64bit first and then crash.
In an app you can use the plist and make the 64bit only useable on 10.6 and above, though.
Apple gcc should be able to built all three. You can of course lipo all arches into one binary.
