Getting MacPorts to work on Darwin 8

There is a binary version of MacPorts Base available for Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard:

Ports themselves must be compiled.

For Tiger, you must install Xcode 2.5 which is available from Apple Developer Connection. X11 is part of Mac OS X. The X11 SDK is part of Xcode.
