Can't install from a local Portfile (macports 2.0)

You do need root privileges to edit macports.conf. On my system TextWrangler prompts me for my administrator username and password to enable me to do so. Are you logged in to Mac OS X as an administrator or a regular user? I'm logged in as an admin; maybe that makes a difference.
