As Ryan basically explained, macports does not "know" what commands
are installed by all the different ports.  Ubuntu's system is
different and they DO know all the commands (apparently) so they can
make it work.  Ryan's latest email goes into some of the reasons why
it doesn't work on macports.  It would be nice for a variety of
reasons, but it is not easy.
