Why can't I select the Mountain Lion Python 2.7?

I find Stack Overflow to be a much more natural place for these sorts of Q&As, with mailing lists being reserved for discussions (Google Groups is easily the most superior choice).
Personally, I'm the exact opposite. I dislike any web based discussion forums and much prefer mailing lists. Each to their own ...
