Is your mouse/keyboard grabbed correctly by VirtualBox (look at the icon
in the lower right corner)?

Do you have the VirtualBox Guest Additions installed inside the VM
(removes the need to grab the mouse pointer each time)?

As this seems to be a more general VirtualBox problem, I would recommend
to ask this at http://forums.virtualbox.org/
