Hello all,
I am a new user of Mac. I got to know about Macport when I wanted to
install NCL visualization program used in atmospheric science. Since I
was addicted to the tools i was familiar with on Linux, I became a big
fan of Macport.
Now the problem is that after installing Macport both from source code
and otherwise, I cannot install any of the ports. The following message
keep appearing every time i try: for instance this is to install "gv"
/Warning: No index(es) found! Have you synced your source indexes?
Error: Port gv not found
To report a bug, see <http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets>/
or ncview...:
/Warning: No index(es) found! Have you synced your source indexes?
Error: Port ncview not found
To report a bug, see <http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets>/
I considered doing the self update using the command: /sudo port
selfupdate/. but what i had in return was this message:
/
Warning: No index(es) found! Have you synced your source indexes?
---> Updating MacPorts base sources using rsync
Error: /opt/local/bin/port: port selfupdate failed: Error synchronizing
MacPorts sources: shell command failed (see log for details)
/
I dont even know here the log is!
*please kindly help*. I use Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2
Yemi
