PEAR in MacPorts is Bradley's work, so I'm leaving it up to him to figure out how best to adapt PEAR to the new php53/php54 ports.

The php5-unit port is for use with php5. The maintainer of php5-unit no longer uses PHP, and said he is open to someone else taking it over and updating it for use with php53/php54. Since PHPUnit seems to be similar to a PEAR module, I suggested that Bradley might take these ports over as well and update them at the same time that he's updating everything else that is PEAR. Bradley did not yet indicate whether he agrees with that assessment or whether he plans to take over and update those ports.

If anyone else wants to work on this or any other aspects of converting from the old php5 port to the new php53/php54 ports, we would welcome it. For PEAR stuff, you should try to coordinate with Bradley; for PHP extensions and the PHP SAPIs, coordinate with me, though these should be mostly done by now. If you have questions about the new layout or how things work now in the new php53/php54 ports, you can ask me that as well.
