I don't think so.  I tried port upgrade automoc (although automoc is not on my
outdated list), and it failed immediately.  I picked inkscape from my outdated
list.  "sudo port upgrade inkscape" ran OK for a while and my outdated list was
reduced by 6 ports out of 34.  It even built python27, but then it bombed at:

"sudo port upgrade automake" worked fine and also built dependency autoconf,
with no error output.

The next thing I tried was:

Tara:~>sudo port upgrade dbus
Error: Unable to open port: can't read "startupitem.install": no such variable

which bombed out immediately, as you can see.

Are there any more I should try?  My outdated list is down to these 26 items:
