any good audio/video editing apps in macports?

My question, as someone who needs a better editor than iMovie, is: Exactly what do I need to do to get kdenlive to work properly?
Assume that I have macports installed, do not have the newest xcode that just came out, do not have the newest macports (still on 2.1.2), and have never installed anything dealing with X on this machine.

This is coming from Mail.app. I hate the new Gmail web look, and dislike Mail only slightly less.
