Unlike some of the other responders in this thread, I will advise you not to try this. We do not support this configuration, for some of the reasons already stated, and if we discover you are using this configuration when you ask for help, we will decline to help you until you uninstall your non-MacPorts package managers.

offlineimap and notmuch are of course available in MacPorts as well.
