This is odd.  Xine as a backend has been deprecated in KDE 4 for years.
But then Kdenlive is in extragear (non-mainstream KDE), so maybe it is
lagging behind somehow.

Can you choose another media player (i.e. not xine-ui) to use with
Kdenlive (e.g. in Preferences, Settings or Configure… menus)?
