usage numbers for macports vs. homebrew?

I understand that the next release of MacPorts 
will check for a correct installation of 
(1)XCode, (2)it's Command Line Tools and (3)that 
it's license has been accepted, right?  This will 
be _huge_ step forward--folks now expect instant 
gratification.  Download an installer .dmg and 
BAM--done.  Our 'extra steps', seem to trip up at 
least half our new users.

A specific problem with 
http://www.macports.org/install.php is that we 
give generic guidance for installing XCode and 
the Command Line Tools while the process is 
rather different for specific versions.  Just as 
we have different .pkg installers for Mavericks, 
Mountain Lion and Lion, we should have specific 
corresponding instructions for the remaining 
steps (with screen shots).
