Yes it does! I double clicked on ~/Applications/MacPorts/MacVim.app and a MacVim window appeared. This is a surprise to me since I tend to open apps from within a terminal. Does this suggest to you how I might proceed?

I realize that having looked at /opt/local/bin/mvim in 'less' but it didn't seem to get me anywhere.
