syslogd through the roof

It does, but that command didn't teach me anything new.
It did lead me to notice that my syslogd instance couldn't be the one started at boot, so I tried sending it a SIGHUP.
Since then, syslogging has resumed normally, and I haven't noticed any more syslogd-induced fan activity.
