The host name is no longer registered with DNS. "finkmirrors.net" itself
still exists but that hostname does not.

No; OS X cannot execute ELF binaries itself, and I don't think Apple
provides enough kernel access to add ELF executable support. Someone would
have to come up with something like Wine but for Linux ELF executables,
including a layer to emulate Linux system calls.

(If you could do this easily, neither MacPorts nor Homebrew would exist.)
