building atlas fails

hi all..

check out this awesomeness:


$ sudo port install atlas

detect any fortran compiler. If you really don’t need the fortran interface
to be built, please use the +nofortran option, else install a fortran

can anybody let me know why is the atlas build complaining that "could not
detect any fortran compiler"? it suggests "install a fortran compiler (e.g.
gcc4X) before building Atlas". but clearly i do have a gcc4X installed...
