That's my suspicion too.

Absolutely nothing (for completeness, no hard links).  Adding the '@'
flag shows ~macports's parent (/opt/local/var/macports) has extended
attribute info "com.apple.FinderInfo 32" fwiw, but that's set in 10.13
as well, so that's probably an infrared herring.
