Requesting new variant for octave and arpack

   We have identified a bug in system lapack provided by the accelerate framework that prevents proper functioning of arpack. 

   I am writing to request the addition of a new variant in installation of arpack and octave to use lapack installed from macports. Something like: 

$ port install octave +lapack 

   Currently the only two variants for lapack are accelerate and atlas.
