macpro burning through hard drives -- ? video card pulling too much power?

I trust you were joking...

I had my MacBook's battery and keyboard replaced by a dealer.  Also, the 
system disk is now external (USB) because some idiot (not me) dropped it 
and somehow broke the connector on the motherboard, so now it's no longer 
exactly portable....
