Port install subport in repository

You could also configure your local Git tree as a source for MacPorst in /opt/local/etc/macports/sources.conf

You can for instance replace the default (rsync://rsync.macports.org/macports/release/tarballs/ports.tar) with a local Git clone (https://trac.macports.org/wiki/howto/SyncingWithGit), or you can add a local directory before the default, this is what I use for locally working on Portfiles.

You could also have a source with just a handful of private Portfiles that you want to add to the default public set.

In all of these scenarios you can just type ’sudo port install <name>’ and it will pick the first source that provides <name>, regardless of whether it’s a top-level port or subport.
