 That's pretty drastic and inconvenient step, and we have no evidence yet
 that there's anything wrong with the ports as they are currently
 installed. We only have the information that, when run from within emacs,
 something unexpected happens, but I have no experience with emacs so I
 cannot say whether what the user is trying to do within emacs is supposed
 to work. The problem could be caused by running port within emacs or by
 DYLD environment variables. If so, uninstalling and reinstalling all ports
 wouldn't change anything. I would recommend that for further
 troubleshooting emacs be left out of the equation.
