Comment (by jmroot):

 Apparently the last version with 2.7 support was
 [https://github.com/protocolbuffers/protobuf/releases/tag/v3.17.3 3.17.3],
 so the 27 subport could be reverted to that. However, there appears to be
 only one port (ola) that needs py27-protobuf3.
