Yes, this is definitely a bug in macports. Has any of the core developer
had a chance to look into this?

I just thought until this is fixed it would allow the Portfile to work.
Now a normal user can't build it at all. When the bug is fixed in
macports and there was a new release then you could undo this checkin.
