port install libsigcxx2 +universal fails

As the subject says, this port (libsigcxx2 at 2.0.17) fails with  
+universal.  After some troubleshooting, I determined that the  
included libtool is at fault.  I replaced it with one I snatched from  
expat at 2.0.1, and was able to get a succesful universal build.

How do I go about making determining if this is an appropriate fix,  
and if so, making it permanent?
