I vaguely recall seeing that thread, but I was too busy to reply  
then. We have a very nice support for building ports in a controlled  
environment called "virtual chroot" as it was implemented by Eugene  
as part of his GSoC internship. The code is there in svn. You need to  
configure your macports installation with --with-trace-sdk=... to  
specify which cross SDK to use for building ports, and then you need  
to use -t to enable the trace mode (which is called trace mode for  
historical reasons). I believe all we need is a script handling all  
that and building ports one after the other...
