"merge" will be in MacPorts 1.7.0. Until then you can look at the
ports openssl and cairo, which are the only ones I know of that do
this themselves so far. I'll be slightly reworking the cairo port's
universal support, just as soon as I figure out how to fix cairo so
it can build universally. Real soon now.
