gv and ghostview - both needed?

Hi all,

Looking at <http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/macports/ticket/14120>, 
I'm wondering if the best resolution might be to simply remove the 
ghostview port. From my perusal of their homepages, it appears that (1) 
gv is based on ghostview, and (2) that ghostview has not been updated 
since 1993, while the latest gv release is from 2007.

So I just wanted to ask the list: Is there anything I'm missing? Is 
there a situation where ghostview would be a better choice than gv?
