GSoC: Accepted students announced

Hi,

in this years edition of Google Summer of Code, The MacPorts Project
will mentor the following 2 students:

  Juan Germán Castañeda Echevarría:
     GUI frontend using MacPorts.framework

  Dmitry Gorbik:
     Logging system

Dmitry, Juan, welcome to our community!
I would appreciate if you two could reply with a few words about your
projects as introduction to the macports-dev list for those who are
interested.

In overall, we had less applicants than last year. It seems like we were
not able to attract many students to work for us. If you have ideas what
we could improve for a possible next year, let me know. For example, we
did not get any proposal for the MPWA task while we got quite a few last
year.

Also, we would have gotten another third slot from Google implementing a
'Scan for broken library dependencies'. But unfortunately, the student
also got accepted for an internship at another company and decided to go
there instead of doing GSoC. In lack of other high quality proposals we
had to give this slot back to the general pool and therefore gave a
student for another project a chance.
