direct mode uninstall broken under 1.9

unfortunately I dont think this is that simple anymore - this is part of what I was
reporting in ticket 20626 (I havent yet looked at the 1.9 update so dont know
exactly what was updated in 1.9)

- now that pre/post deactivate procs have been fixed up in 1.9 as I understand
just doing uninstall may not execute those procs - if for example the
pre-deactivate proc stops a daemon you need that executed also on an uninstall
in direct mode
