Following the instructions in https://trac.macports.org/wiki/Migration, I have successfully wiped my old installation and then I have attempted to reinstall my ports one by one. However, when trying to install the first one (ispell) port fails fairly early with the error message below. Does anybody know of a fix/workaround (short of setting the macport user to root)?

Should I reinstall MacPorts from scratch (i.e., after completely deleting /opt/local), or is there a more efficient way of doing it?

You said above that you read the Migration page, which explains that yes, you must reinstall MacPorts when you upgrade to a new major OS X version.

We are preparing to release MacPorts 2.2. Please test the beta of that, or trunk.
