Most ports were either setting autoconf.args to -fvi (or in the long
form "--force --install --verbose") or clearing autoconf.pre_args as
they also change autoconf.cmd. I wrote in the commit message:
It's unlikely that we need additional commands, but more likely we need
completely different or no arguments (for instance when running
./autogen.sh).
