For UberFTP, the selection of the correct compiler is an open issue. It seems to be an upstream bug, as the configure script disregard any setting to the relevant environment variables. I have little understanding of the configure script and for the moment I compiled an issue upstream.

However, UberFTP depends also on grid-packaging-tools. Not sure if compiler selection might depend on this, so this would be related?
